Fortunately, Brussels is yet not among heavily touristed destinations in Europe. Paris, Rome or Berlin are definitely gorgeous cities, but the number of tourists breaks local color easily, making it unable to feel the atmosphere.
Brussels is a piece of that «Old Europe» you’ve always heard of. Not very fast and full of traditions this city offers amazing experience for all new comers. By the way, if you’d like to know more about Belgian history in general, visit the Place Royale and its new Magritte Collection. The museum is new (it has opened just several months ago) and definitely worth visiting.
Gastronomy tourists may know Brussels as a perfect destination. If you look at Michelin, you'll see that 2 cheapest 2 star restaurants in the world are located here. Excellent food at excellent price sounds truly appealing.
The first restaurant, the Sea Grill, is a great place to spend time chatting with friends or family members. Its peaceful, somewhat leisure atmosphere suits this city perfectly.
The second one is Bruneau. Prices are definitely strong point of this restaurant – just 35 euros for lunch and 49 if you include wines. Lunch includes amuse-bouche, starter, main dish and desert. This is really very small for a 2 stars place! The choice of food is wonderful however service is acting somewhat too slow. Still, for this price it's really a great deal as in, let’s say, France you won't get much for the same money.
Finally, Brussels is a paradise for chocolate lovers. Various deserts, tenths of chocolate types – even if you’re not a sweet tooth it’s almost impossible to stay indifferent. Diabetics and those who are on a diet may like sugar free chocolate. Believe me, it tastes really good.
